Skin Cancer Screening

Dr Stevens set up and chaired the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at Barnet and Chase Farm. He specialises in the early detection of skin cancer utilising the minimally invasive techniques of dermoscopy and confocal microscopy. This enables the dermatologist to more accurately identify clinically suspicious lesions, and greatly reduces the number of unnecessary biopsies performed. Discomfort and scarring is reduced.

The more moles you have, the longer the examination and the higher your risk of skin cancer. Dr Stevens will closely examine any moles, growths or lesions that worry you. He also recommends you examine all areas of your skin, including often overlooked areas like the scalp, between the toes and the soles of the feet. The advanced imaging techniques of dermoscopy and total body photography (mole mapping) help in his objective of early skin cancer detection.
